Building 709-1L was built as a temporary Fire Station supporting the L-Reactor Restart Project. Since 1991, Building 709-1L was used as a surplus equipment storage facility (for example, hand tools, office furniture, mixing tanks and gamma radiation monitors). Building 709-1L was never equipped with utilities or services (for example, containment?s, sumps, floor drains, electrical, mechanical or plumbing systems) A visual inspection of the buildings floor and exterior surface, during facility walk down, revealed no evidence of spill. Historical records and interviews researched, found that no chemical or radioactive processes were performed in this building.
