The Project Activity Sheet titled ''Virginia Beach Wind Turbine Demonstration Project" submitted by the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia, involves the purchase and installation of four (4) wind turbines and/or wind spires on the roof of the Advance Technology Center building, and the funding of development and implementation of educational curricula related to alternative energy and wind energy technology for kindergarten through high school and community college courses. The four (4) wind electrical generation demonstration units, estimated to operate at 1 kilowatt (kW) per hour, are approximately 55 feet in height, and will generate less than 18 kW combined. A demonstration project of this size will likely require permits and/or approvals from federal, state and/or local authorities. Any applicable permit or approval must be in place prior to commencement of construction.
