Modifications must be made to the L Area 85/30 ton crane because the L to H shipment of nuclear fuels will require implementation of the new criticality safety program invoked by Department of Energy Order 420.1b. An engineering study was performed and concluded that the 85/30 ton crane will not meet single failure requirements and needs to be upgraded.
