The purpose of this proposal is to obtain a certification from the American Association of Railroads (AAR) on a fully constructed and tested railcar system for transporting spent nuclear fuel (SNF). The transport system will allow transporting SNF by rail to occur at normal rail speeds thus eliminating delays on rail lines and all more rapid transport of SNF to future specified locations. AREVA Federal Services, in collaboration with Kasgro Rail Corp., will design and fabricate a prototype cask car and buffer cars for the transport system.
