To prevent animals from accessing inner and outer security perimeters at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC), a method of preventing animals from passing through or burrowing under fences is needed. The proposed action would place an animal barrier fence along outer security fences at MFC and Radioactive Scrap and Waste Facility. Approximately 10,000’ of 4’-high fence with 1" 16 gauge PVC coated square wire would be installed in “L” to prevent animals from accessing problem locations. The portion of the fence on the ground would be covered by rock or gravel. Grates would be placed under the current security fence to improve drainage where needed. This work is expected to occur in FY 2017 and cost approximately $40,000.
