I am pleased to present the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG’s) combined Fiscal Year 2006 Annual Performance Report and Fiscal Year 2007 Annual Performance Plan. During Fiscal Year (FY) 2006, we examined a variety of issues of vital importance to the Department of Energy and the Nation. Our efforts identified the need for corrective action
on an array of issues ranging from systemic and situational vulnerabilities in Department security to cost and performance irregularities associated with the Nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile to the need for improved management oversight in the administration of Department contracts.
