The Department of Energy, (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the Indiana Office of Energy Development to assist government-owned wastewater treatment plants reduce their energy demand and lower their energy costs.

The proposed project would occur at the Laboratory Building at the City of Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Filtration Plant. The activities would include replacing the old rooftop heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system with a new rooftop variable air volume HVAC system that would interface with new laboratory Terminal boxes and controls. The rooftop HAVAC system would be hidden by a parapet wall and would be not visible. Air controls and motion sensors would be installed to better control air flows, which would require the removal of a constant air volume system from the ceiling, and the installation of a new ceiling grid. Each laboratory would replace the existing hoods with energy efficient hoods and control air valves. Additionally, the proposed project would replace existing lights with LEDs throughout the Laboratory building.
