Shekita Robinson is a member of the Federal Senior Executive Service (SES) and currently serves as the Acting Manager for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Kansas City Field Office (KCFO). In this position, she has responsibility for NNSA operations at the government-owned, contractor operated Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC). The KCNSC is responsible for manufacturing and procuring about 80 percent of the nation’s non-nuclear components. This includes operations in Kansas City and Albuquerque, NM, and covers a diverse set of manufacturing and procurement activities for NNSA and national security customers.
Shekita has been the Deputy Manager of KCFO, a position she’s held since 2021. With over 25 years of experience in the Nuclear Security Enterprise, she has led the Field Office in a variety of ongoing functional areas including: review of new or modified contract work, the maintenance of a strong contractor assurance system, and serving as champion for continuous improvement and other agency-wide initiatives. She also served as the KCFO ISO management representative and enterprise risk management POC.
Shekita has held various positions within KCFO including Assistant Manager for the KCFO Office of Mission Assurance (OMA), OMA Program Management Team Leader, Program Engineer, and WQA Engineer. She provided cost, technical and schedule oversight; inspected weapon products; managed the inter-site non-conformance reporting process; and evaluated strategic work scope agreements slated for M&O contractor execution.
Prior to joining NNSA KCFO in 2008, Shekita worked approximately 11 years for DOE/NNSA Sandia National Laboratories. Shekita earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. In addition to her post-graduate degree, Shekita also maintains a Program Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
