Shekita Robinson is the Acting Manager of the NNSA Kansas City Field Office (KCFO), where she provides executive leadership and oversight for the billion-dollar Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) Management and Operating (M&O) prime contract and all federal site activities. Her responsibilities include operations in Kansas City and Albuquerque, NM, overseeing diverse manufacturing and procurement vital to NNSA and national security. As a Federal Senior Executive Service (SES) member, she leads a team in overseeing safety, security, quality assurance, environment, infrastructure, national and global nuclear security missions. The KCNSC manufactures and procures approximately 80 percent of the nation’s non-nuclear components.
Previously, Shekita served as Deputy Manager for the KCFO, second in command and provided broad oversight of NNSA operations under the KCNSC contract. She ensured effective integration and execution of NNSA program and functional office requirements, strategically guided Assistant Managers and staff in contract work review, maintained a robust contractor assurance system, and championed continuous improvement initiatives. She also served as the KCFO management representative for ISO certification and enterprise risk management.
With nearly 28 years of experience within the NNSA enterprise, Shekita's career includes four years as Assistant Manager of the KCFO Office of Mission Assurance (OMA). In this role, she oversaw KCNSC Nuclear Weapon Programs (NWP), Weapon Quality Assurance (WQA), and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP), leading a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and quality assurance specialists in assessing non-nuclear product and service deliverables.
Her extensive experience at KCFO also includes positions as OMA Program Management (PM) Team Leader, Program Engineer, and WQA Engineer. She provided oversight for weapon and SPP costs, technical requirements, and schedules, inspected weapon products, managed inter-site shipments, and evaluated strategic work scope agreements. Before joining NNSA KCFO in 2008, Shekita spent approximately 11 years with DOE/NNSA Sandia National Laboratories.
Shekita holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She is also a Program Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
