NNSA’s Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) invests in educational and research capacity, as well as student enrichment activities, to support a diversified, highly skilled, and enduring STEM pipeline of individuals advancing America’s nuclear security agenda. In the fall, it grew to include five new consortia across 15 schools.

MSIPP investments now support a total of 13 consortium-based teams across 33 institutions composed of 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, five Tribal Colleges and Universities, and 14 Hispanic Serving Institutions. The strategic partnerships developed between the universities and their NNSA lab, plant, and site partners allow students and faculty to participate in collaborative cutting-edge research while making immediate contributions to the crucial mission of the Nuclear Security Enterprise.

“NNSA is proud of the growth MSIPP has experienced while increasing consortia partnerships from six to 13 in less than two years,” said NNSA Deputy Associate Administrator for Management Marcus Lea. “Students are the heart of this program and despite the challenges we’ve faced due to COVID-19, we were able to support over 120 students this summer through virtual internships and other enrichment activities, successfully sustaining MSIPP’s STEM pipeline.”
