DOE/EA-2299: Non-Capacity Amendment Application, Bartletts Ferry Project; Multiple Locations

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) has re-published a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Environmental Assessment (EA), including a signed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), for the Non-Capacity Amendment Application, Bartletts Ferry Project (DOE/EA-229), to consider the environmental impacts associated with providing potential financial assistance (a federal loan guarantee) to the Georgia Power Company (GPC or Applicant) pursuant to its authority under the EIR Program.

GPC proposes to upgrade (i.e., replace existing turbine runners, rehabilitate and replace generators, and upgrade the cooling system) the four generating units in the west powerhouse (Bartletts Ferry Units 1-4), allowing the facility to continue to meet the operational requirements of its existing Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license. The Bartletts Ferry Project is located on the Georgia-Alabama border on the Chattahoochee River in Harris County, Georgia, and Lee and Chambers counties, Alabama.
