The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) and signed mitigated Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Wabash Valley Resources, LLC – Wabash Hydrogen Energy Center Project (DOE/EA-2301), which assesses the potential environmental impacts of LPO's decision to potentially provide financial assistance (a federal loan guarantee) for the refurbishment of a gasification facility and construction of a new hydrogen production facility, a CO2 capture facility and CO2 injection and monitoring wells, and an ammonia synthesis facility to produce anhydrous ammonia from petroleum coke and coal in Vigo and Vermillion counties, Indiana.

Based on the EA, DOE determined that providing a federal loan guarantee to WVR for the Wabash Facility, the CO2 injection well sites, and the FM wells would not have a significant effect on the human environment.
