February 27, 2026Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of a "hot-plasma-cold-spray" process to convert natural gas directly into nano-graphene thin films for battery electrodes. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop, test, and validate a prototype plasma reactor, (2) develop, test, and validate prototype cold spraying process, (3) combine processes for full prototype testing and validation, (4) test and validate final battery products to meet project metrics, and (5) conduct a techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment.
