June 10, 2025This Amended Determination follows the approval of additional project performers, project locations, and new retrofitting construction to finalize the development of a scalable manufacturing process for high-entropy alloy (HEA) catalysts for ammonia oxidation with enhanced catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability. Specifically, the project team will (1) increase manufacturing of HEA catalysts, (2) perform comparative catalytic performance studies with state-of-the-art industrial catalysts, and (3) validate catalyst operation at a pilot plant. If successful, this project will result in high-performance and low-cost HEA catalysts that will reduce the use of precious metals and enhance energy efficiency, thereby increasing U.S. energy security.
