December 7, 2015The refrigerant side of the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Process Control Room (PCR) air conditioner, 670-HVA-3, has stopped functioning. After several failed attempts to repair, the 7.5 ton self-contained unit will be replaced with a similar 10 ton self-contained unit. The new unit will provide cooling to the PCR as before, but will require changes to the electrical supply, cooling water piping, and ventilation ductwork connections. The new thermostat and controller will be compatible with iVu, the building monitoring and management system for ATR heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC). A conduit for the PPS State of Charge system will be re-routed since the new unit extends eighteen inches further south than the current one.
