In this Final Order, DOE has determined that the 2016 edition of ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1-2016, “Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings,” would achieve greater energy efficiency in buildings subject to the code than the 2013 edition of Standard 90.1. States must certify to DOE that they have reviewed and updated the provisions of their commercial codes to the 2016 edition of Standard 90.1 within 2 years after the publication of the final determination in the Federal Register.
