The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Columbia Power Technologies (CPT) to demonstrate the Columbia Power Wave Energy Converter (CPwr WEC) in a grid connected open ocean environment.

The CPT project is one of three proposed projects that have been selected under the Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0001310. Each of the three proposed projects would consist of three budget periods (BP). At this time, DOE is proposing to fund only BP 1 activities including initial intellectual research, design and modeling for each of the three projects. At the end of BP 1 there would be a down-select process from which two of the three original projects would be chosen to move forward. BP 2 and BP 3 activities would only be reviewed for those two recipients chosen to move forward.
