The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Inc. (IREC) to coordinate and develop resources and training targeted for code official, inspection, firefighting, and financial sectors in order to enable the growth of the solar energy industry.
Activities associated with the proposed project would include identification of key metrics, creation of validation questionnaires, tracking, reporting and analysis of project data and metrics, technology support, integration of content into partner learning management systems, creation of a 3D, interactive course which tours a photovoltaic system, data analysis, analytical reviews, data dissemination and paper studies. Training would be delivered in the form of workshops, conference sessions, articles in trade publications, blended and distance learning, and online 3D interactive simulations. The proposed project would use no physical materials beyond basic office supplies and software.
