The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the Center for Power Electronics Systems at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to educate and train the next generation of U.S. citizen power engineers.

Activities associated with the proposed project would include the administration and management of coursework, laboratory training and internships. Partners in this endeavor would include DOE and DOD laboratories as well as several industrial partners. The proposed project would be limited exclusively to intellectual, academic, or analytical activities and would use no physical materials beyond basic office supplies and software.
