The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research (PICHTR) to fund Kunoa to develop a go-to-market plan for producing a sustainable supply of local beef by leveraging geographic advantages (e.g., natural irrigation with rainy conditions, an abundance of natural grass, a year-round steady climate), incorporating renewable energy technologies and reducing food transportation miles.
