Yakama Power plans to complete several activities throughout its service territory with the overarching goal of increasing the resilience of the electric distribution grid. Activities include: Upgrading existing utility poles with activities such as installing fire mesh wrap, updating pole-top fuses and cutouts, installing lightening arrestors, bird guards, and coated wire. Replacing approximately 10 miles of underground distribution line (in current ROW, in conduit). Installing advanced monitoring and modeling software. Purchasing vegetation management equipment, such as a chipper and masticator, to better manage the vegetation within the ROWs.
