The objective is to react the uranium oxides with HCl to form uranium chloride compounds distributed in the molten carrier salt. The off gas will be passed through a condenser for H2O and HCl retention. Rev 1. Chlorinate aluminum metal with S2Cl2, SOCl2, or SO2Cl2 to form aluminum chlorides. The off gas will be passed through a condenser for SO2 retention. An additional goal is to oxidize graphite with nitric acid gas to form CO2. The off gas will also be passed through a condenser for CO2 and NOx gas retention.
