In this SRS Tank Farm supernatant liquid (radioactive waste) mercury characterization study, the goal is to sequester total mercury/ionic mercury in the supernatant using two commercial mercury getters (Duolite GT-73 and Mersorb). After 24-hour contact time between the supernatant liquid and the getters, a solid liquid separation will be performed and the resulting filtrate characterized for remaining total mercury and mono methyl mercury and dimethyl mercury. This activity will be performed in the SRNL Shielded Cells at the Cell temperatures.
