March 5, 2025his Second Amended Determination follows the approval of additional funds, new project milestones, and extended project schedule to support the project team's small-scale research and development activities for automated diagnostics of nuclear plant auxiliary systems, in progress under the Generating Electricity Managed by Intelligent Nuclear Assets (GEMINA) Program. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop diagnostic digital twin models to identify faults in a reactor system; (2) integrate Metroscope software with additional methodology and combine with the digital twin models; (3) test and validate full model process; and (4) apply results and make adjustments to final product for use in future energy production. If successful, the technology would support safe nuclear operations and reduce maintenance costs (thereby reducing cost of nuclear energy generation).
