Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development activities to design a significantly more efficient, fast, low-cost, compact, and reliable solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) for a medium-voltage direct-current (MVDC) power system, originally being developed under the Building Reliable Electronics to Achieve Kilovolt Effective Ratings Safely (BREAKERS) program. The Principal Investigator has moved from Drexel to Lehigh University and will continue project tasks; additionally, there are updated milestones to reflect changes in the scope of the project. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop pre-pilot system specifications and final testing plan; (2) lab test and validate system; (3) adjust and refine system in preparation for full product testing; and (4) conduct product testing to verify the solid-state circuit breaker system.
