The goal of the catalyst research is to create innovative materials and intellectual property. This project seeks to develop a high performance catalyst with significantly improved activity. Improved catalyst will be prepared by several different techniques including (1) impregnation, (2) vapor deposition, and (3) ion-exchange. The goal is development of a catalyst with 10x performance, if not 100x, comparing to the current technology on energy and material conversion.
Catalyst characterization is also conducted in this lab using fully automatic instruments. Characterization will validate, screen and enhance catalyst development and performance in support of DOE projects.
