Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development activities to develop lean-organic compacted hybrid concrete as an alternative to Portland cement-based concrete. Specifically, the project team will (1) develop a system to produce, fabricate, optimize, and characterize 20-pound samples of lean-organic compacted hybrid concrete; (2) design and fabricate a heavy-duty quasi-static mixing device for, compaction of 500-pound prototypes; and (3) characterize 500-pound lean-organic compacted hybrid prototypes, including compressive and flexural strength and creep/relaxation properties.
