The ALCF -3 project is progressing forward with a design for a power/cooling infrastructure upgrade to the TCS building which includes siting mechanical and electrical equipment into an Other Support Facility (OSF) sited on the TCS property adjacent to the existing building. The OSF will be an approximately 19,000 square foot facility that will house electrical equipment (switchgear, substations and conductors) and mechanical equipment (heat exchangers, pumps and chilled water piping) with shallow footing and slab on grade. There will be approximately 300 feet of trench for two 24 inch diameter pipes running towards the chilled water plant. Installation of a manhole with 2 duct banks each having 6 sets of 5 inch conduits running to the building. And relocation of cooing tower and standby generators adjacent to OSF.
