Fundamental Corrosion Studies in High-Temperature Molten Salt Systems for N
CX(s) Applied: B3.6
Date: 01/08/2016
Location(s): South Carolina
Offices(s): Savannah River Operations Office

The objective of this work is to study the durability of materials in concentrating solar power systems in the presence of high operating temperature heat transfer fluids (molten salts). Corrosion rates and trends for stainless steels, superalloys, refractory alloys and ceramics or other materials in molten salts such fluoride, chloride, nitrate and carbonate based salt systems will be compared. Specific metals may include, but are not limited to Incoloy-800H, Hastelloy-N and Ni-201.
