MOX Services proposes the use of 83 acres for storage and staging of construction materials. The subject area is located between the existing MOX facility and E-Area, and was previously cleared and graded. Additional land disturbance is not proposed at this time. Areas currently covered with crushed stone or gravel will be used for the storage of scaffolding, carbon and stainless steel, galvanized metal, wood, and other construction materials. Individual areas will be barricaded with adjustable entrances/exits. "SeaLand"-type portable storage containers may be staged in this area. The existing temporary diked fuel storage shed may be used to stage fuel tanks associated with MOX construction activities. Suitable areas within the 83-acre footprint also may be used to stockpile soil, with adherence to appropriate Best Management Practices that address sedimentation and erosion control. Approved herbicides and pesticides will be used on an as-needed basis.
