The Department of Energy is proposing to provide federal funding to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District for permitting, engineering, design, construction, system analysis, and validation of a Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) facility at the Consumnes Power Plant located 25 miles southeast of the City of Sacramento, in Sacramento County to validate the concept of cost-competitive solar electric power generation when combined with the benefits that CSP integration provides to fossil systems.
