In this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR), DOE proposes to amend the energy conservation standards for distribution transformers. The efficiency levels proposed for the energy conservation standards in the NOPR include the ERAC-recommended efficiency levels for medium-voltage dry-type transformers and the levels endorsed by DOE's Regulatory Policy Group (RPG) for the other types of transformers in this proposed rule. These proposed standards, if adopted, would apply to all covered distribution transformers listed in the tables and manufactured in, or imported into, the United States on or after January 1, 2016.
