Location(s): Aiken, South Carolina
Office(s): Environmental Management, National Energy Technology Laboratory
In order to predict time to leakage failure of the actual O-rings in an H1616 Shipping container, a series of tests will be performed in 773-A, D-0226 using three full-size H1616 Containment Vessels. Argon gas will be used as the backfill gas. Helium leak tests will be performed periodically, after cool down to room temperature. The activities include potential cleaning and assembly of the containment vessels, aging the containment vessels at elevated temperatures, periodic leak testing, and final disassembly/examination. Work is similar to Environmental Evaluation Checklist No. TC-A-2006-044.
