Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. 1) Complete Energy Efficiency and Conservation strategy for units of local government; 2) purchase and install nine Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rated energy recovery units for the new Town Hall/Police Station project, remove 3-4 steel underground storage tanks, remove asbestos containing materials; 3) grants for attic insulation program; 4) purchase solar powered recycling compactors and single-stream recycling units; 5) public education on matters related to energy efficiency and conservation; 6) retrofit Hamden Public Works Facility by installing high efficiency natural gas and radiant heat system, installing rooftop system for heating and cooling, and upgrading windows; retrofit Bassett Park Concession Stand by installing a solar thermal domestic hot water system; and 7) install a 2 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at Bassett Park.
