Savannah River National Laboratory will conduct fundamental studies into the solution chemistry of novel actinide complexes and nano-clusters. These studies will focus on the stability, reactivity, and electrochemistry of novel actinide compounds in aqueous and non-aqueous solutions. Spectroscopic, electrochemical and other techniques will be used to determine solution phase species. X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy will be used to identify solid phases that may form as a result of solution phase chemical reactions.
