Wet oxidation carbon analysis uses low heat and sodium persulfate solution to determine total organic carbon concentrations in aqueous samples. The instrument is an Oceanography International Analytical Corporation 1030 with sample changer. Analyses will be done in a clean laboratory. The instrument also determines total inorganic carbon concentration using phosphoric acid solution. The chemistry of both methods involves the generation of carbon dioxide gas captured by non-dispersive infrared detection. The method uses nitrogen gas, an inert carrier and sparging gas.
