A culvert unloading area will be re-constructed behind the low activity waste vaults (LAWV) in the same location as used in 2008 to dewater culverts containing radioactive contaminated water. Heavy plastic and canvas will be placed over the existing steel framework to form a windbreak. Notification will be made to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control requesting approval to dewater/repack mixed waste at this location. Culverts on Transuranic (TRU) Pad 1 with radiological contaminated water and/or plywood boxes as well as six (6) large concrete boxes on TRU Pad 1 and the 18 culverts with Reinforced Fiberglass Polyboxes (RFPs) will have their internal containers removed. The culvert will have all contaminated water removed and be transported to H-Canyon for repackaging.
