Sub-size samples of MAX Phase and other carbides will be irradiated in the Savannah River National Laboratory concentration factor facility. Samples will be irradiated for varying periods of time to determine microstructural and property changes. Time periods will be from one month to potentially over a year. After irradiation, the samples will be characterized by techniques including resistivity, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and tensile testing. Upon completion of characterization, the samples will be disposed.
