Two types of testing will be conducted. Dissolution testing of sludge materials and organic destruction scoping tests with spent acids containing dissolved sludge materials. Dissolution testing will involve treatment of sludge simulants and known mineral phases with inorganic acids, carboxylic acids, mixtures of acids, other complexants, and caustic. Organic destruction will likely involve the production of gases including oxides of carbon and nitrogen which will be released into the hood ventilation system.
