Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. Wagoner County is one of the fastest growing counties in Oklahoma. As such, it is up to us to do our part to ensure that every dollar we spend is being effectively and efficiently. It does not help anyone to spend money recklessly, especially with this economic crisis. The obvious reason for developing an energy strategy is to save money. By having an energy strategy, we are in a much better position to make informed and educated decisions. By developing an energy strategy for the County, we can help to spend tax payers money more effectively. Another reason for the development of an energy strategy is awareness. By having an energy strategy, we become more aware of what resources we are consuming and wasting. The energy strategy also helps to remind us that we do have a carbon footprint and should be doing as much as possible to save money, resources, and to reduce waste. The energy efficiency strategy will allow the County to bring in the expertise (either through hiring a consultant or in house hiring) that it is lacking, in an area that has never been studied. It is our hope that the energy efficiency study will be beneficial to the taxpayers, County, local partners, and to our planet.
