Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) proposes to conduct a detailed energy study to identify specific energy efficiency improvement opportunities, develop a more precise estimate of the energy savings potential and produce a detailed implementation work scope. The study project will address how to best retrofit the existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment with state-of-the-art ECO 24/7SM optimized control technology. The project will determine the most cost-effective Energy Management and Control System, Direct Digital Control HVAC control upgrades and lighting retrofits. This project will also provide a more precise energy savings estimate, preliminarily estimated to be approximately 30% of total utility consumption based on past projects of similar size and scope. The study will also address how best to improve occupant comfort, reduce HVAC maintenance issues and improve the lighting levels of the facility. The City of Papillion is pleased to be able to make a major investment at the local level with Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant by conducting an energy efficiency retrofits study in partnership with OPPD. This project will contribute to the strategic investment to meet the nation's long term clean energy and climate goals as referenced by Secretary Chu. The long-term goal of this project is to qualify the Papillion Library Building for an Energy Star Building label and provide sustained energy savings year after year.
