In May 2008, a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) determination was signed for the Final Supplemental to the Final Site-Wide Environmental Assessment of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) South Table Mountain Complex (STMC) DOE/EA-1440-S-1, supported by the 2008 NREL South Table Mountain Traffic Mitigation Action Plan and NREL South Table Mountain Traffic Impact Study. DOE/EA-I440-S-1 and Traffic Mitigation Action Plan identified expanding building leases to mitigate traffic impacts. This NEPA determination includes leasing and occupying a building lease for 10 years at 14103 Denver West Parkway, Golden, Colorado. This lease would consist of 62,958 square feet and house between 100 and 150 NREL staff. Throughout the 10 year lease period, NREL may sublet any unused office space to third parties. This lease would aid NREL in reducing trip lengths from off-site office space to the STM site by locating personnel closer to the STM including being on the north side of 1-70. NREL claims the physical security measures would be in accordance with current NREL Policies and Procedures and applicable DOE requirements.
