Acting Chief Operating Officer
Lauren Joyce serves as Acting Chief Operating Officer for the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE). She has over 17 years of federal government experience, including leadership roles within NE as Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Acting Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chief of Staff.
Since joining the Department of Energy in 2008, Ms. Joyce has also completed a one-year detail to the White House - National Security Council as the Policy Advisor in the Directorate of European Affairs. Previously, she worked as a senior international relations specialist in DOE’s Office of American Affairs, focusing on energy, economic, and national security issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. Earlier in her career, Ms. Joyce served as a foreign affairs specialist in the Office of Nuclear Energy.
Ms. Joyce holds a bachelor’s degree in English and History from Presbyterian College and an Executive Master’s in International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
