Cincinnati – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today awarded a grant to the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection (NDEP) of Carson City, Nevada for “Programmatic and Regulatory Oversight, Monitoring and Analysis at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) and Surrounding Locations”. The program will provide programmatic and regulatory oversight of the DOE Waste Management Project at the NNSS. The objective of the project is for NDEP to perform various tasks that relate to the NDEP planning and regulatory authority, natural resource planning and management with the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and DOE Mission. The grant has a value of $13 million, with a period of performance of 5 years.

The Nevada Department of Environmental Protection enforces state laws and regulations to protect the human and natural environment.
