The Energy Act of 2020 included specific requirements for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to conduct research and report back to Congress on energy access and reliability on tribal lands.
To meet this requirement, the Office of Indian Energy Policies and Programs hosted an initial listening session on Nov. 4, 2021, to gather insights directly from Native Nations about the status of unelectrified homes and electricity reliability issues in tribal communities.
On July 28, 2022, the Office of Indian Energy hosted a second listening session to discuss the results of the questionnaire conducted during the first listening session, and to share findings from the report to date. It also provided tribal leaders and staff from energy, planning, natural resources, and other relevant departments the opportunity to make recommendations on the report.
Please submit any questions to IndianEnergy@hq.doe.gov.
