Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multilateral Engagement and Market Development
William L. T. Schirano serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multilateral Engagement and Market Development at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). In this role, he advances U.S. priorities at multilateral institutions while enabling capital-intensive, complex energy and infrastructure projects that underpin the expansion of digital infrastructure and the broader information technology economy.
Prior to his appointment at DOE, he served as a Director for European and Russian Affairs at the National Security Council. In this role, Will led U.S. policy and strategy on NATO, Germany, and Italy—as well as a host of other nations—addressing European security, energy, and economic issues.
Previously, Will served as a Senior Strategic Planner at various roles in the U.S. Department of War (DOW). Before entering federal service, he spent more than seven years with The Tauri Group, providing strategic planning, risk management, and policy analysis for the DOW and other federal clients. Will also held roles as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a research assistant in foreign policy at The Heritage Foundation.
Will is a graduate of the University of Richmond and received his Master’s degree from Fordham University.
