Embargoed Announcement or Event: In some instances GDO will request that selected projects refrain from publicizing an award or selection until the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a press release or announcement. Your selection or award notification may include a specific embargo date and time. If GDO is requesting an embargo or is planning an announcement event, a member of the GDO Communications staff will be in touch with you with additional information. Alternatively, you can reach out to them at GDO_Comms@hq.doe.gov.

Amplifying Your Selection

GDO encourages you to spread the word about your selection or award. There are many ways GDO can support you in these efforts.

  • The GDO Communications team is available to review announcements or press releases associated with DOE-funded projects prior to their release to the media. This review process benefits both DOE and the funding recipient. It enables the GDO Communications team to verify that brand consistency standards are being met, while confirming project details for projects are correct. While GDO review is not required, GDO has successfully used press release reviews as a way to help awardees frame their work within the context of DOE priorities and energy sector trends.

  • If you are planning a ribbon cutting or announcement event and would like to request GDO participation, please email GDO_Comms@hq.doe.gov. GDO will do it’s best to accommodate your request as schedules permit.

  • Funding recipients are encouraged to stay up to date on GDO news by following our social media accounts:

Funding recipients are encouraged to retweet, like, and share GDO social media posts that highlight selection announcements for various GDO programs and promote content using hashtags, @mentions, etc., in social media activities. Hashtags: #GDOSelectee | #GDOAwardee | #GDORecipient

DOE and GDO Branding Guidelines

DOE has a set of official branding assets for awardees of Departmental funding. Logo identifiers are meant to be used by businesses, universities, consortia, and other funding recipients to self-identify themselves as official DOE Awardees.

Please review additional DOE amplification and branding guidelines here: DOE Awardee Logo and Branding Guidelines.

GDO logos are available upon request. Please contact GDO_Comms@hq.doe.gov.
