DOE ordered US, Inc. to pay a civil penalty of $8,000 after finding US, Inc. had failed to certify that commercial refrigeration equipment basic models UM-24G, UMT-48, and UUC-27F comply with the applicable energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and US, Inc.

DOE alleged in a October 5, 2016 Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty that US, Inc. had failed to certify commercial refrigeration equipment basic models UM-24G, UMT-48, and UUC-27F as compliant with the applicable energy conservation standards.  DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  The civil penalty notice advised the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
