DOE ordered Nortek Global HVAC, LLC to pay a $41,109 civil penalty after Nortek had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Nortek models RP7RE-48K and VP7RE-48K of central air conditioners. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Nortek.
On July 24, 2019, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Nortek finding that the Nortek basic models RP7RE-48K and VP7RE-48K do not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Nortek provided DOE records showing the number of units Nortek distributed.
