DOE ordered Haier America Trading, L.L.C. to pay a $413,080 civil penalty after Haier had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Haier refrigerator model # HBF05EABB. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Haier.
On July 24, 2017, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Haier finding that the Haier refrigerator model # HBF05EABB does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Haier provided DOE records showing the number of units Haier distributed.
