ARLINGTON, Va. — Leaders from the nation’s gaseous diffusion plant (GDP) complex participated in the “Enriching Communities – A Renewed Purpose for America’s GDP Complex” panel at the National Cleanup Workshop.
Joel Bradburne, principal deputy assistant secretary, U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management (EM), moderated the panel of federal, contractor and community representatives from the Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Portsmouth, Ohio; and Paducah, Kentucky sites. Panelists shared their roles at the respective sites as well as upcoming redevelopment activities.
Erik Olds, manager of the Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management and acting manager of the Portsmouth Paducah Project Office, discussed how the synergy between the sites is building a coalition to propel cleanup and revitalization successes.
